Audrey Gaussiran, DADAO Consultant: Last June, we had our annual DADAO residency, which brought Sarah Wong, Jhoely Triana, Isaac Gasangwa and Maribé - Sors de ce corps together to reflect on land acknowledgement through outdoor dance performances. This rich process resulted in a casual showing/sharing of each artist’s work.

WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH & COMMUNITY MEMBERS, beyond The Lower Mainland CHANGE MAKERS’ EDUCATION SOCIETY Ts’msyen La̱xyuup homelands (Prince Rupert) August 1-6, 2023 Brenda Kent Colina aka Bee Llegada, Partida (Arrival, Departure) Fior Saoirse Land Alchemy: Movement Meditations Dance Artists Brenda "Bee" Kent Colina and Fior Saoirse participated in an artist exchange with workshops offered to local youth and community on Ts’msyen La̱xyuup homelands, Prince Rupert. October 2023 : Film to be shown at Changemakers’ Open Mic (date TBA) ~ ~ ~ FALL 2024 on the lands of the Sinixt, Secwepemc (Secwepemcul’ewc), Syilx, and the Ktunaxa (Revelstoke) Simran Sanchar with Sophia Gamboa and Sharon Lee will offer: The Lunacy Phase workshop -and - Tsawwassen First Nation, on the lands of the Penelakut, Hwlitsum, Lelum Sar Augh Ta Naogh, and other Coast Salish peoples (Galiano Island) Shion Skye Carter will offer: Movement and Calligraphy Workshop This group project includes professional development training in how to cultivate safe spaces as well as conversations with Indigenous consultants. Misha Maseka, Development & Communications CoordinatorMisha Maseka is an award-winning director, producer, writer and founder of Village Girls Ltd. Born in eSwatini to Zambian parents but growing up in South Africa, Australia and settling in Canada, Misha’s adaptability of culture has served her well as a grant writer and juror on various Canadian granting bodies (Canada Council of the Arts, Calgary Arts Development). For her film debut, “Not That Deep”, Misha won “Best Short” and “Audience Choice Award” at the Berlin Short Film Festival, 2022. Music is her longest practice and has taken her to the stages of Europe and all over Canada. Currently, she makes time to write and perform music under the stage name, Lemba and frequently sings with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Photo credit - Yanni Laloudakis

JULLIANNA OKE, Programs Coordinator Jullianna Oke (she/they) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist of Japanese-Canadian descent, working and playing in Vancouver on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Jullianna situates her work in relation to deep embodied listening, and adopts creation and movement practice from this place of slow processing. Having completed their BFA Honours in Dance from Simon Fraser University, Jullianna‘s interests lie in the passage of information and non-verbal communication expressed from one body to another through movement, sound and media. BOARD MEMBERS:Christine Añonuevo and Kallee Lins

Christine Añonuevo (she/her) is from the Okanagan Valley on Sylix Okanagan territory. She spent her formative years immersed in music and dance, competing at the provincial level. She is grateful to her migrant parents and relatives who passed down ancestral performing arts knowledge from the Philippines. Having lived in northern BC for 15 years, Christine has been a board member of the Bulkley Valley Concert Association and the Misty Rivers Arts Gallery. She is creating a Filipinx arts space in the Hazeltons on Gitxsan territory to facilitate cross-cultural understanding amongst intersectional Indigenous, Black, and community of colour artists.

Kallee Lins is an avid supporter of the performing arts and nonprofit sectors across Canada. She has held management roles at the Dancer Transition Resource Centre and Imagine Canada and acted as publisher of The Dance Current magazine. Last year, she returned to her home region of the Kootenays to support community cultural development as Executive Director of the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council. She holds an MA in Theatre & Performance Studies from York University. Throughout her work in the cultural sector, she developed a passion for systems-level change and advocating for stronger arts policy. Previously, she was board chair for the Dance Umbrella of Ontario and currently supports the governance of arts policy and research network Mass Culture.
