Bolero and Other Works
Ballet Kelowna
Project Description
The Bolero and Other Works program is Ballet Kelowna’s newest collection of dance featuring a uplifting blend of contemporary and neo classical works from acclaimed Canadian choreographers. The program unveils exciting new creations from BC based choreographers Simone Orlando and Kirsten Wicklund (Ballet BC), along with In Between by dance luminary Alysa Pires. Featuring an original score by composer Adam Sakiyama and inspired by the constant churning and ebb and flow of the ocean, In Between draws inspiration from nature and its powerful connection to our existence. Bolero by National Ballet of Canada Choreographic Associate Guillaume Côté has been hailed by Dance Magazine as a “riveting tour de force”. The intricate choreography brings power and fragility to a fascinating interpretation of the beloved composition Bolero by Maurice Ravel, one of music’s most famous and identifiable melodies.
