Claudia Moore

Claudia Moore, performer, mentor and Founding Artistic Director of Moonhorse Dance Theatre, has been a force on the Canadian dance scene since the late 70’s. She trained at the National Ballet School and performed for two seasons with the National Ballet of Canada, before moving into contemporary dance as a featured performer with the Toronto Dance Theatre (1976-80) and with the Desrosiers Dance Theatre (1980-87). Claudia established Moonhorse Dance Theatre in 1996, as a home for her dance projects. Through MDT, she performed commissioned works by acclaimed creators, and, in 2000, established Older & Reckless – the internationally acclaimed series for lifelong dance artists, connecting them with the public in performances, workshops, discussions and community projects. Older & Reckless has featured seasoned artists from across Canada and internationally. O&R celebrated it's 25th anniversary in 2025.

In 2022, Claudia stepped down as Moonhorse Artistic Director and moved to BC where she is thrilled to continue sharing her passion for dance as a performer, teacher, mentor and as the Dance West Network Community Dance Connector in Kelowna BC. Her community dance projects have recently been featured at Creative Okanagan's Music in the Park (West Kelowna) and at Nuit Blanche (Kelowna). Claudia launched an ongoing Dance Salon Series in 2025 presented by the Rotary Centre for the Arts where the public is invited to engage with contemporary dancers in an intimate studio setting - a performance, a class and a talk about the benefits of dance for all. Claudia has received a Dora Award, the Jacqueline Lemieux award for Excellence in Dance and was a finalist for the 2017 Premiers Award for Excellence in the Arts.
