Projet Alterdogs
In a science-fiction universe called ALTERMUNDI, the avatars CLAIR and LEO wander naively, possessed by the archetypes of the new millennium. Born from a world building process, ALTERMUNDI, is Project Alterdog's universe from which various performances have emerged, fusing structured improvisation, dance, and role-playing. Telepathy takes place in ALTERMUNDI’s village, which settles like a fictional strata over the public space. This performance specifically highlights the extrasensorial connections between the avatars and archetypes of ALTERMUNDI. For the next stage of this creation, we aim to address our work to young audiences by asking: how can our score include them through play?
Projet Alterdogs
Projet Alterdogs is a collective founded in 2022 by Claire Pearl and Léonie Bélanger, both contemporary dance artists. Inspired by world-building and science fiction, they have created works such as Corps. Route. Ride. (2023) and ALTERMUNDI (2024), presented in various stage and site- specific contexts in festivals (Art-Souterrain, Faubourgs, OFFTA, DOUZE DOUZE) and at Tangente. Their approach explores imagination as a driver of spatial and physical transformation and places a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary collaborations, making the invisible visible. The emerging collective draws inspiration from phenomena emerging from today’s dominant culture to speculate, critique, and open up new possibilities.

A dance artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal, Léonie Bélanger completed a bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance at the Université du Québec à Montréal (2021) and has since pursued a career as a performer and choreographer. She has had the opportunity to work with Caroline Laurin-Beaucage, Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, Danièle Desnoyers/Le Carré des Lombes, Chélanie Beaudin-Quintin, and Alejandro Sajgalik, among others. Léonie’s practice revolves around an expanded concept of the body, which drives her to explore collaborative, interdisciplinary, and digital forms of work. In her creative work, she seeks to understand how the body can bridge the gap between lived and imagined realities. She is collaborating with interdisciplinary artist Éloi Angers-Roy on the creation of texuvie, a performance-installation that envisions a loom for weaving the digital body.
