Collaborate with Dance West Network to access support for dance presentations

CONSULTATIONS

The staff at Dance West Network have a wide breadth of knowledge when it comes to touring, consulting and assisting in connecting presenters across BC with different dance artists and dance performances. These presentations range from performances on the stage to outdoors and/or alternative spaces beyond the theatre, and from dance presentations that involve community engagement to digital work, etc.

Many on staff are also practicing artists themselves with touring experience within BC and Canada at large. We bring these connections, artists and logistical experience to our work.

With this background, we are able to offer consultations on the following topics:

● Dance presentations

● Community Engagement

● Presenting work out-of-doors/alternative sites/site-specific works

ACCESS

In early 2024, Dance West Network completed four online, and two in-person showcases as part of the Industry Series for presenters attending international and national festivals in Vancouver. These online and live showcases supported over 35 BC-based dance artists and over 10 dance artists from Alberta.

We then edited these showcases into a series of videos that we would like to share with you.

These pitch recordings and online showcases include:

● Mainstage performances - full length shows

● DADAO - Des art Dehors / Arts outside - site specific presentations.

● Western Canadian artists - established, mid-career

● Emerging artists

We also invite you to access to various resources that we have assembled and put together for our network of presenters and artists:

● Indigenous Resources for Visiting Artists - local Indigenous museums, exhibitions, tours, tour guides, etc. at various locations around BC

● Facilitating Access to Learning Resources - a document that provides resources for facilitating safe spaces

● Training and Classes in Vancouver - Hip Hop and Street Dance Resources

CONNECTIONS

We could coordinate meetings with Dance West Network Community Dance Connectors -local “dance champions” - who are specifically focused on dance - to talk with presenters about how they might engage with local communities for inspiration and logistical input. We are open to discussing other possibilities on how we might better collaborate to support dance in BC. We invite your ideas for collaboration.
