Dance West Network (previously known as Made in BC - Dance on Tour) has been connecting and supporting relationships between BC and internationally renowned Hip-Hop dance artists since 2019.
Activities have included:
Conversation for Hip-Hop Teaching Artists (Vancouver) with B-girl Rokafella (The Bronx, NY),
Collaboration with the Vancouver Street Dance Festival in a public conversation about the work being done to support women dance artists in Hip-Hop and the amazing platforms they have created to share this work (2021),
In early 2021 MiBC/Dance West Network collaborated with Hiit’aGan.iina Kuuyas Naay – Skidegate Youth Centre in Haida Gwaii to offer a virtual Hip-Hop Academy with a series of online workshops in music, dance and spoken word culminating in performances featuring Indigenous and POC artists from The Bronx, Haida Gwaii, Tofino, and Edmonton.
