All Bodies Dance at Rotary Centre for the Arts

Rotary Centre for the Arts, Kelowna: Visiting in the homelands of the Okanagan Territory

In June 2017 All Bodies Dance Project and the Rotary Centre for the Arts, Kelowna  brought together a group of movers of all ages and abilities to explore movement as a means of expression and allowed them to experience some of the principles of inclusive dance practice. In this mixed ability dance practice differences are used as a creative strength to create choreography that celebrates diversity and community; exploring choreographic possibilities of wheelchairs, crutches, and canes. In a short time, trust, openness and rapport was developed within the group, as was so clearly demonstrated in the final performance  for the public.

The week-long project was facilitated by Naomi Brand and Sarah Bourne (Lapp).
