Ouro
OURO Collective travelled to Trail and Nelson, BC in February 2018 in order to present their work, TANGENT and to partake in various youth and community engagement activities, as part of the Fourth Annual Youth Arts Festival. During the tour OURO presented TANGENT at The Capitol Theatre in Nelson and The Bailey Theatre in Trail with presentations by local youth opening up the show We also performed excerpts of TANGENT at high schools in both cities with talk backs after the showings.
Besides our presentation of TANGENT, OURO Collective taught numerous workshops, in the various styles that we work with: hop hop, waacking, breaking, and contemporary dance along with repertoire from our show. We taught at high schools, private dance schools, youth centers, and also facilitated cyphers/socials in both cities, which involved getting the youth/community together to celebrate, dance and connect with other dancers in their city and to the connect with the visiting artists. OURO worked with over 750 youth during the festival.
