This two-hour workshop is designed for dance artists or members of the public and draws from the creative process behind Soup of Forgetfulness. Character embodiment and state work were central to the development of the piece, and I am excited to share some of these approaches through movement, voice, and facial expression exercises.
In a pre-professional setting, participants are guided through physical tasks and creative prompts that invite them to step into different characters and states of being. Throughout the session, I also carve out space for discussion and reflection on creative process, composition, and performance-making.
When offered to the public, the workshop shifts toward an accessible practice of embodiment. Through playful theatrical exercises, participants are invited to encounter their bodies in unconventional ways, discovering new possibilities for expression, imagination, and connection. No previous dance or performance experience is needed—everyone is welcome.
Whether for artists or the wider community, the workshop is an invitation to play, to transform, and to embrace the joy of not knowing. It is a space for curiosity, experimentation, questions, and exchange—a place where movement, voice, and imagination become ways of meeting ourselves and one another.
