Last Solo
Wen Wei Wang began dancing in China, where the expressive language of the hands, arms, and upper body shaped his artistic voice. As he grew older, he came to understand that his sexuality was different, a realization that deeply influenced his life and creative journey.
Now, returning to the stage as a senior artist, he reflects on memory, mortality, and the connection between body, mind, and the universe. Through this final solo work, he invites audiences to contemplate aging, transformation, vulnerability, and resilience.

ARTIST BIO
Wen Wei Dance’s work reflects a multiplicity of dance and social experiences. Each creation is influenced by the evolution of personal identity, and strives to reflect the underlying experience of social, cultural and personal development. Wen Wei Dance creates provocative performances of a distinctive trans-cultural sensibility. With a highly individual style, Artistic Director Wen Wei Wang fuses precise choreography with stunning visual design and music, turning each work into a rich and unique world.
Since 2003 the company has created a repertoire of full-length works including Ying Yun, Dialogue, Made in China, 7th Sense, Cock-Pit (Rio Tinto Alcan Performing Arts Award winner), Under the Skin (co-created with the Beijing Modern Dance Company), Three Sixty Five, Unbound (Isadora Award for Excellence in Choreography winner), One Man’s, and Tao. Wen Wei Dance has performed these acclaimed works across Canada and at festivals around the world, including Canada Dance Festival, International Contemporary Dance Festival in Colombia, and the Venice Biennale in Italy.

Project Details
General Technical Requirements: As the work is still in early development, our technical requirements are being finalized. The piece is designed for a proscenium stage with a white marley floor (or equivalent), supported by a full overhead lighting plot. Video is integral to the work, requiring multiple projectors and screens, alongside a full sound system. A full technical rider will be available after the premiere (Oct 2026).

Outreach Activities
Wen Wei offers community outreach through master classes, workshops and artist talks. Master classes offer technique-based training drawing on Wen Wei's blend of contemporary and Chinese movement vocabulary. Workshops are accessible and can be tailored to a range of abilities..
