The Impossible has Already Happened
MascallDance is a creation, production, and education endeavour with 30+ seasons of works; many with extensive touring lives. “Our projects have blossomed from the two years of conversations about touring and audience relationship. The cancellations and shifts have actually opened up to new possibilities” -Jennifer Mascall, Artistic Director. Recently, we have pivoted to focus on art as social action with the audience as collaborators. After 50 years of creation, Jennifer still feels like she has just started her path as an artist. So her perspective is driven by curiosity. Annually we offer residencies, intensives, and workshops based on where our own body of knowledge meets the interests of participants. Our most influential teachers this year were dance artists, particle physicists, indigenous elders, Rabbis, and climate scientists. MascallDance is looking to build relationships with presenters now for three projects with a focus on: The Impossible has Already Happened, touring fall 2023.
The Impossible has Already Happened
The Impossible Has Already Happened is a Canada/ New Zealand investigation and performance event about the power, purpose and necessity of Water, and the human relationship to it. 8 performers, two co-choreographer, two countries and many threads of exploration.
This work is sustained through dialogue with artists and community leaders to remember our origin stories and discuss the critical role water plays in our current Climate Change crisis. Through dance, film projections, spoken narratives, interactive installations, and immersive kinesthetic performance, this work takes on a multitude of relationships to water in its power to sustain, nourish, dazzle or disrupt our planet. It draws parallels to our flowing lives, to stagnated situations, and presence of being. Online workshops featured Elders, knowledge keepers, scientists, and dance artists in both Canada and New Zealand. Everyone in the world has a relationship with water. We want to hear yours. The world needs to hear all of our stories, and our need and love for clean water. Piece Tours New Zealand in spring 2023, Canada in the fall, booking now.

Yes we would like to connect with local experts about water and water issues in the community and storytellers with localized knowledge. Consult beforehand about local water issues and see if there is a way art can benefit the situations.
