Rock Garden is an interactive installation featuring handcrafted cushions inspired by the movements of shape shifting within the life cycle of rocks. The work honours rocks as teachers for surrendering to transformation, bringing to light the relationship between resistance, rest, and renewal. As a social practice, Rock Garden enacts a relationship between art, activism, and community gathering. This work activates the body as political, recognizing the effects of oppression on bodies and cultivating a pocket of rest and ease within structures of hardness and force. Through the integration of choreography and textile design, our rock garden aims to be a soft place to land that reminds participants to slow down, release, and tend to their embodied needs.

Rock Garden est une installation interactive composée de coussins fabriqués à la main et inspirés par les mouvements de changement de forme dans le cycle de vie des roches. L'œuvre rend hommage aux roches en tant que maîtres de l'abandon à la transformation, mettant en lumière la relation entre résistance, repos et renouvellement. En tant que pratique sociale, Rock Garden établit une relation entre l'art, l'activisme et le rassemblement communautaire. Cette œuvre active le corps dans son esprit politique, en reconnaissant les effets de l'oppression sur les corps et en cultivant un moment de repos et d'aisance au sein de structures de dureté et de force. Grâce à l'intégration de la chorégraphie et de la conception textile, notre jardin de pierres se veut un endroit doux où se poser et qui rappelle aux participants de ralentir, de se détendre et de se connecter aux besoin du corps.
