Diversity Performing Arts Club of Calgary

Diversity Performing Arts Club of Calgary also known as DPACC (dee-pak) features the faces of Calgary’s children and youth from various cultures and walks of life. Their mission is to provide an outlet for children and youth to express themselves while acquiring a spectrum of performing art disciplines that will make a positive impact on their lives.

DPACC was founded in 2000 by Jennifer Duncan, an avid believer in youth development via the arts, she grew up in the vivacious dance and sports communities of Trinidad and Tobago. Jennifer has always had the ambition to enrich the lives of youth through arts and sport and has been the driving force behind many Calgary community initiatives including the annual Caribbean Heritage Sports Day in Calgary, Alberta.

Through dance and drama this non-profit group gives their members a multicultural experience like none-other! Their dance classes range from Funk, Ballet, Dancehall, Soca, Jazz, Hip Hop, West African and Caribbean Folk dances. Furthermore, their drama productions focus on past and present social issues and their overall season - running from February to December - is filled with tons of community performance including an annual summer Caribbean festival tour. For summer 2024 they had the pleasure of performing at Edmonton’s Cariwest festival, Calgary’s very own Carifest festival and the inaugural island fest Caribbean festival in Victoria, BC.
