Pants

Solo dance-theatre (stand-up comedy with dance breaks) by veteran dance artists Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg. Can one reimagine gender from inside a middle-aged body while standing at the playground caught in the no “man’s” land between the “moms” and the “dads”? Pants take a deep dive into the shallow end of the gender binary through raw comedy and dance that crawls inside our “packaging”. What happens to one’s flimsy identity, built on blending, when one’s offspring sheds the binary before recess? Profoundly personal storytelling is delivered through alarming comedy and movement that reveals the heart of the matter. Pants will premiere in 2024.

TCP is a feminist organization of female-identifying, gender-questioning, and non-binary artists who create unapologetic, boundary-pushing performance art that celebrates diversity. Led by Artistic Director Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, we've rocked stages across Vancouver, BC, Canada, and the world with our wild and wonderful mix of movement, music, and theatrical flair. But our mission doesn't end with our performances - we're also passionate about mentoring the next generation of artists and fostering collaborations that push the boundaries of the performing arts. Whether you're a theatre artist, dancer, a caregiver, or simply someone who believes in the power of inclusive feminist communities, join us in celebrating life, art, and the beauty of being unapologetically yourself.
