Vidya Kotamraju
Vidya Kotamraju, a Vancouver-based dance artist and choreographer, has been trained by Jai Govinda (Canada) and Sheila Jagadish Kumar and Bragha Bessell (India), and is a graduate of the Jai Govinda Dance Academy.
Her dance journey, marked by a graduation ceremony (Arangetram) at UBC's Frederick Wood Theatre, has led her to grace stages with Mandala Arts and Culture, as a soloist and in ensemble pieces, "The Temptation of Buddha" and "The Monk and The Courtesan." Kotamraju has performed at various events such as Vancouver City Hall, North Shore Women’s Centre's Crimson Cabaret, Dance Centre's Silk Route Festival, Wish 150, Namaste Canada, Spirit of India festival, Diwali in BC (Shyama), Vancouver International Dance Festival, DiwaliFest amongst others, and has received the 2017 Shade of Hope "Best Bharata Natyam Classical Dancer" Award. She served for multiple years on the Boards of New Works and Mandala Arts and Culture.
