Lamondance Double Bill: Nothing Really Matters & Soul Searching
This full-length showcase presents a dynamic double bill choreographed by Davi Rodrigues, performed by the Lamondance company. The evening is a profound exploration of human existence, spanning the celestial and the deeply personal.
The first act, Nothing Really Matters (Premiere 2025), is a powerful journey through the landscape of anxiety. Set to a striking soundscape, this piece confronts the illusion of control and the fear of an uncertain future. Inspired by the natural world's inevitable cycles of loss and renewal, it reminds us that true freedom lies in embracing the present. The choreography guides the audience to a state of acceptance, celebrating the beauty of simply being and letting go of what cannot be held.
The second act, Soul Searching (World Premiere 2024), takes us on a provocative quest into the origins of our spirits. This work delves into a celestial realm where sages—representing fundamental emotions like joy, sadness, and love—shape our souls before they embark on their human journey. Through daring and profound movements, the piece invites contemplation on where we come from and what makes us who we are.
Together, these two distinct projects create a compelling narrative, offering a complete theatrical experience that is both introspective and visually stunning.

Community Engagement
While Lamondance does not have a pre-structured community engagement program that involves collaborative creation, we are genuinely open to developing new possibilities in partnership with a local presenter. We believe that meaningful engagement is a collaborative process, and we are keen to explore projects that extend beyond our standard outreach workshops.
We are interested in co-creating initiatives that could involve working with local artists from other disciplines, such as musicians, visual artists, or storytellers, to create site-specific or community-driven artistic responses. We are also open to engaging with specific community groups, youth, or seniors, to develop short choreographic works or participate in a creative process that culminates in a public presentation.
Our approach is flexible, and we are ready to discuss scheduling formats, fees, and potential advanced preparation online to best suit the community's needs and the presenter's vision. Our goal is to create a unique and impactful experience that is mutually beneficial and leaves a lasting artistic legacy in the host community.
Outreach Activities
Lamondance is committed to engaging with the community through educational and accessible dance workshops. Our outreach activities are designed to provide participants with a hands-on experience of our creative process. The core of our offering is a dance workshop led by our artistic choreographer, Davi Rodrigues. This workshop is open to individuals with beginner to intermediate dance experience, making it accessible to a wide range of participants.
During the session, students will be introduced to the choreographic tools and methods utilized in the creation of our work. Following this, participants will have the unique opportunity to learn two distinct phrases directly from the pieces in our double bill: one from Nothing Really Matters and one from Soul Searching. This not only gives insight into the physical demands and artistic vision of the performance but also allows participants to feel a direct connection to the work they will see on stage. We are happy to tailor the workshop to different age groups and communities upon request, and are open to discussing scheduling formats and fees with potential presenters.
